Autum Harvest

This is a 20″x20″ oil on canvas painting. A local gallery is having a show for 25 emerging artists in January and local artists could enter one painting each. This is the painting I entered, so I’ve got my fingers crossed that it’ll be in the one day show.

My family drove 4 hours to the Texas hill country over the Thanksgiving holiday and we passed this pretty barn. It’s one of my favorites so my husband pulled off the road and I got out of the car and took a bunch of photos. Normally I just shoot pictures as we’re driving at 70 mph. It works a lot better when we actually stop the car! The fields of winter grass were a beautiful pale yellow and during the weekend I found a yellow field and spent 2 hours painting a study, that study came in handy when I was back in my studio painting this larger painting.

  1. Taking photos from a racing car – yes, I have also done that! Not driving of course! 🙂 Glad you stopped and took the photos of this barn and surrounding field. It is lovely and I like the abstractness of it. My fingers are also crossed for you. Good luck!!
