This is another painting I did while we were in the hill country last week. It was time to pack up and leave and I didn’t have too much time, so I set up my easel and painted this nearby little lakehouse the morning we left. The house was at the end of a road with an untended driveway, or is that a walkway?, with a couple of little sheds next to it. The house looked like it had evolved over time, perhaps different owners adding their own touches. It’s not a typical “cottage”, but I thought the house had a certain charm.
This scene had a lot of surfaces, some in sunlight and some in shadow, and I thought it would provide good practice for identifying values.
