Three Cows Grazing

Three cows grazing. After finishing the portrait of Marissa I wanted to paint something . . . well, something where I could paint any way I wanted to so I grabbed my folder full of landscape reference photos and pulled out a photo of some cows grazing. It was fun to use bold strokes and bold colors: purple, green and blue.

I would love to experiment more with these bold strokes, but that’ll probably have to wait until after Christmas. Just sitting here at this computer I feel like I should be doing other things that are much more productive than blogging! This little painting is oil on linen canvas and is 8″x10″. It’ll be dry in time for the show I’m having in January at our church so I will hang this one in the show.

    Hi Joan,

I love this painting, has a stong and simple tonal composition that works really well!

    nice to find your site!
