The Art Show of my work at our church is over, I sold 13 paintings out of 20 and I’m very pleased. The show at church was an amazing experience, and not just because I sold 13 paintings. So many people told me how much joy they got from my paintings and many told me how they “connected” with my work. I made some new friends, had some delightul conversations, got to visit some of my “clients” in their homes, and everyone that bought a painting was a pleasure to work with. I am very blessed.
I want to paint a large painting to hang above our sofa. I’m thinking it will be some kind of abstracted barn. I’ve measured twice now, it can be as large as 72″ wide and 60″ tall. I want it to fill the whole space between the sofa and the ceiling. The art supply store has stretcher bars that long, and extra wide linen canvas that I’ll have to stretch over the stretcher bars myself. I’ll have to paint the painting in the living room because I don’t think I could get it down the staircase from my little studio upstairs. Then I thought about framing. How do I transport something that large once it’s painted? The framer will have to cut the frame pieces and assemble it at my house. It can all be done, and I’ve spent a lot of time figuring out the logistics. But why do I spend my time thinking about this? I need to just go get a large pre-made canvas, one that fits in my car (!), and paint the painting! I waste so much time on these ideas that go nowhere. Though, and this is just to make myself feel better, some of the ideas do lead somewhere.
Okay, it’s getting late but I can at least do something productive here in my studio – I need to sign four paintings so I can varnish them, then get them framed and hanging in the shop.
