Yesterday was my son’s 14th birthday. I got a tiny cake at the grocery store and after dinner we had a family birthday party. I painted this little 6″x8″ canvas this afternoon, it is oil on linen canvas. When it’s dry I’ll frame it and hang it in his room.
He had a birthday party Saturday night and invited some of his friends. I thought this image would be cute on ‘thank you’ notes he’ll send to his friends who brought gifts. It’s expensive to have just a few printed but I think it’ll be worth it. By expensive I mean something like $1 per card. We’ll see.
This is not the best photo of this work, but it’s getting dark outside. Tomorrow I’ll take a better picture and post that.
This painting is so beautiful and so well done! It is going to be a treasure your son will hold dear always.
The composition is perfect and I love the tablecloth. Oh, yes, and the wistful, thoughtful expression on your boy’s face…lovely.
Made me smile and feel a little nostalgic–my boy is now in college. Sigh. I miss those days.
Happy birthday to your son! What a lucky boy to have such a talented mom. Beautiful and poignant rendering to mark this special day.
Dear Melinda and Janelle,
Thank you for your compliments and good wishes! This was a fun painting because I did it just for myself.
