More studio

A week has gone by without work on the studio, we’ve been waiting on the engineering report. Since we removed the ceiling, seems there is a lot of shoring up that must be done with larger rafters and various beams. We got the engineering report and with that the contractor and I were able to get our permit. Yay! Work started back up this morning. The photo here is of the ceiling. Over on the right where daylight is coming in is where there used to be a large louver to provide circulation into the attic, which isn’t there anymore since now the room is open up to the rafters. The contractor removed that louver and I liked the light coming in so much that we’re going to make it a window. The window faces east and I’ll be able to cover it up when I only want north light. But I won’t always be painting a model with only north light and I think it’ll be nice to have that extra daylight coming in.

I am so glad work has started again. The studio is upstairs so workers have to walk through the house, up the stairs, and through another room. I have put plastic over most of the furniture upstairs to protect it from the fine layer of sawdust that is covering everything in this house. Yech, I feel like I’m covered in sawdust! Another two weeks of this and hopefully the studio will be all finished. I can’t wait!
