House across a field

I really like the way this painting turned out. I like the abstract quality of the field. And who know I could paint a tree and have it turn out that well? I’m crazy about that tree. The tree (in real life, I’m not talking about my painting here) is magnificent. Look at the size of it compared to that farmhouse. This painting is oil on canvas and is 24″ x 30″.

This is done from another photo I took south of Houston after a visit to my parents. I must find it relaxing to drive around the back roads looking for things to paint: barns, old houses, beautiful trees. I have come across a couple of prisons, interestingly enough. Um, correctional units. I did take photos of one, not to paint though, but to show my kids how much barbed wire there was around this particular correctional unit. I took that photo while I was driving by, I think the guards would probably frown on people taking photos of the facility.

I’m guessing all this talk of prisons will bring in some hits to my website from people doing various searches for prisons and correctional facilities. We’ll see.

Speaking of hits to my website, I do track where people visit my website from. StatCounter is a program that shows me the city where a visitor is located. Nothing more about the visitor. StatCounter also shows me which pages are visited most frequently, and which search words are used to google my website. Usually they’re words you would expect like my name, or barns, or things related to painting. I did get someone searching for “preparing to paint with glasses” one day. Hmm.

My free trail with StatCounter is about to run out so I’ll need to “subscribe” to the service. I don’t really learn that much from tracking the visitors to my website, but it’s fun to check how many people visit. And, this is the fun part for me, it’s fun to see visitors from across the globe. I’ve had visitors from most of the European countries, Finland, the UK, Denmark, Australia, Spain, South Africa (!), Japan, Brazil and Canada. How they ever find me I’ll never know, the World Wide Web is amazing.
