Here is what looks like the same sketch from yesterday. But, I decided I didn’t like the placement of the figure so I wiped the whole thing off and sketched him (with paint) in this new position – about 3/4″ to the right of where he was on the canvas. I never thought of myself as a “perfectionist” . . . . it’s just that the figure has to feel right on the canvas. He has to be placed correctly or the whole painting will be off balance. I would rather take a little extra time at this stage with the drawing than get into the painting and then decide I don’t like the placement.
