Over the Thanksgiving holiday our family drove 4 hours to visit my mother in law who lives in central Texas on a lake. This is a photo of my son and me canoeing on the lake. We’ve had a fairly mild November here in Texas.
I have been “tagged” by two wonderful artists, Diane Hoeptner and Laurel Daniel. Thank you dear friends for the compliment! Now I need to tag 7 artists whose artwork (and blogs) I enjoy and also list 7 little knows facts about myself. I’m working on it . . . .
For a change I don’t have any commissions due, which is perfect with Christmas around the corner. I won’t be able to go a month without painting so I’ve decided to paint some small still lifes for a 2-day show at the end of January that I’m hoping to get juried into. After my experience at the 3-hour art reception and sale at our church last month, I’ve come to the conclusion that at these short shows people tend to buy smaller paintings. Cash and carry. I admit I have limited data since I’m just using my own experience: all the paitings I sold were less than 8″x10″s. Another reason to paint some smaller paintings right now is because I don’t think I’ll have the time and mental focus during December to work on anything much more involved (larger).
