Tagged

As I mentioned earlier, I’ve been tagged! Please go and take a look at Diane Hoeptner’s colorful and rich paintings of flowers and antique toys. Laurel Daniel also tagged me, she’s a Texas artist who paints beautiful serene landscapes.

Okay, here are 7 little known facts about me:

1. I worked for 4 years as a petroleum enginner at Shell in the 1980’s. I have a b.s. in petroleum engineering from the University of Texas. It was not very creative work!
2. But I did meet my husband of 21 years at Shell, whom I’m still madly in love with.
3. Every time I start a portrait commission I get a sort of “stage fright”. I procrastinate for days doing things like laundry, paying bills, cleaning my studio . . . anything to avoid starting a portrait. Once I’ve started the portrait I’m happy and all goes well, but it’s a challenge to start.
4. My husband, two kids, and I lived in Holland for 2 years ten years ago. It was so cold most of the year and I do not like cold weather. It was great fun but I wore at least three layers all the time!
5. I love to read fiction novels about World War II. I credit that to the fact that my mother was born and raised in Germany during Hitler’s time and my father grew up in Hungary and had to escape from the Russian invastion.
6. I am a Christian and believe my artistic talent is a gift from God. I struggle with figuring out how to use my talent to glorify God. Apparently there is not a simple answer to that question but I am learning a lot from the journey.
7. Good, last one! I have huge feet, women’s size 11.

Here are the bloggers I am tagging:
1. Sarah Hazel – Sarah has an amazing instinct for color in her paintings
2. Rhonda Hartis Smith – She paints landscapes, still lifes and figures and writes about it all beautifully on her blog.
3. Susan Carlin – Susan is a portrait artist who shares great information on her blog.
4. Debbie Miller – wonderful beach and snow scenes
5. Sylvia Jenstad – sensitive paintings in acrylic and oil, see her latest rock painting.
6. Marian Fortunati – check out this blog, it’s bursting at the seams with creativity and info
7. Refabulous – A wonderfully creative site about reusing fabric to make new and useful things. Lots of inspiration here for anyone who loves colors and fabric!
