For the Fourth of July my family and I went up to the Texas hill country. I had been looking forward to getting out in the hill country and painting for a couple of weeks, it hasn’t been as easy to find scenes to paint here in the big city of Houston. Because of Hurricane Alex we had rain for a week and when we got up to the hill country, it was still raining! But, after a couple of days it slowed to a drizzle and then stopped.
I set up my new pochade box (!) out on the dock in front of my mother-in-law’s house and painted the scene above. The river takes a turn around the bend and it was beautiful at dusk.
Finished with that, I turned to talk to my brother-in-law and as I was putting away my paints I noticed a gorgeous peachy sky. So I unpacked what I had packed and did a small 5″x7″ of the sunset. This one is looking directly across the river:
My husband took this photo of me painting the first painting. I loved being out there painting, it was so peaceful and there were no distractions.
Looks like you’re right in heaven there, painting beautiful scenery. So you packed up then unpacked in order to capture that peachy sky? You’re such an artist! Love the hat, by the way!
So glad you could get some painting time in on your family trip. I usually can’t do that when family is around.
I LOVE that photo of you painting there on the dock… fabulous!!.
