I’ve been organizing a group art show for our church and yesterday afternoon I got a call from a friend’s mother who said her husband wanted to be in the show. Could I come over and take a look? So I went over and looked at his beautiful enamal work. Wow, I thought, this would be great to have in the show. I explained that you have to be there during the show, he replied “I don’t want to be there!”. Well, then I said you’ll need someone else there to answer questions about the work and take a check if something sells. “I don’t want to sell my work!” came the answer. Big sigh. Turns out he doesn’t want to be in the art show after all.
Next I went down to the church where I’ll hang my work on Tuesday. I wanted to figure out where to park to unload my paintings and just get a general feel for the layout. That taken care of, I went to the Texas Junk Shop, a great place which really is full of all kinds of junk, you never know what you’ll find. But it’s closed until September 17th. So I went to the art store for an hour and then home. I guess I felt like I got a couple of things accomplished Sunday afternoon.
My little preview before my upcoming show turned out to be a great success. The best part was getting to spend time with my friend and getting to know her a little better. And she bought three paintings which was really really nice. Then the next day she e-mailed and said there was a painting she kept thinking about so she wanted to buy that one too! I don’t think anyone has ever bought four of my paintings at the same time so I am very flattered.
Wow, Joan, that’s fantastic! Congratulations!
I like your painting. The touches of that beautiful blue in the trees and shadows are really nice.
I have to admit I miss the photo of the old lady coming up on my blog! After reading your post I laughed every time I saw her!! 🙂
Hi Carol, thank you! If I don’t sell any at the show, it’ll be okay since I sold those 4. Though I wouldn’t mind selling a couple more. 🙂
Joan
WOW… I’d say that visit was a REAL success!!!
Congratulations…
Love the plein air painting.
That is fabulous news Joan! I am glad your friend bought so many! That makes your show a success before it starts! I love this painting too. It looks so calm and peaceful there!
Hey Joan, I cant help but keep coming to your blog to take a look at your new artwork. Do you think I could be able to ask you around 5 – 10 questions in an interview? It would be through email. Just let me know if you are interested. I have interviewed many famous designers and artists and youd be the first that is focused on canvas art! email me at [email protected]
