I painted this on Galveston Island over the Memorial Day weekend and hung it in the show I’m having in downtown Houston at the Christ Church Cathedral Cloister Gallery. (That’s a mouthful!) I’ve sold five paintings so far at this show and I’m thrilled!
The gallery surrounds a dining area where 400 people eat lunch daily. Last week a man walked into the dining area and as he was standing in line for his food, he noticed this painting hanging on the wall. He did a double take and realized the beach house in the middle of this painting belongs to his in-laws! The in-laws generously allow their children and their families use the beach house, he said this painting will make a wonderful gift for them. I told him it would make a nice Christmas present, if he could wait until then. He said he didn’t think he could.
Out of the 5 million people that live in Houston, the right person for this painting walked into that dining hall and noticed that tiny little part of my painting and recognized it. This painting has found it’s rightful home which makes painting even more meaningful to me.
What a cool story! What are the chances that this would happen? Wait, I know… 1 in 5 million.
How absolutely fantastic!! Amazing how that happens.
Congratulations on your sales!!
