Yesterday was a beautiful day. I had the opportunity to go with a friend and paint at the Houston Arboretum and Nature Center. It’s 155 acres with trails and a couple of large ponds. The plan to paint outdoors came up quickly so I dropped everything and went. We set up our easels next to a pretty lily pond. For two hours we painted undisturbed. The only sounds were bull frogs croaking and the occasional fish jumping. You would never have believed we were in the middle of HoustonlIt was a great painting day and unlike my last attempt en plein aire, this time I’m posting the painting I did. It’s an 8″ x 10″, a nice small size for painting outdoors since the light changes quickly. I can’t wait to get out there and paint that pond again.
