Chapel Commission

“To humbly serve the Lord by being a loving, playful, powerful, and passionate example of the absolute joy that is available to us the moment we rejoice in God’s gifts and sincerely love and serve all of his creations.”                 – Anthony Robbins

My favorite paintings are those that mean something special to someone. I have been commissioned to paint the chapel at our church.  I am so thankful that I was asked to paint the chapel, it means somuch to me to create something that will give someone else some comfort or joy.

It seems obvious but now I understand why when someone asks me what my favorite thing to paint is, my answer is always “people”. When someone commissions a painting of a loved one, I know that portrait will bring happiness for a long time. I painted two large angels with bible verses under them and both of those paintings found a special and meaningful home. This has been a good reminder of how much I enjoyed painting those angels. More angels coming up . . .

Of course I can’t always paint paintings that are that meaningful, so I like to think my paintings of sunflowers or pumpkins add warmth to someone’s home. And anyway, I just love to paint. With each painting I learn something new, and there is so much to learn.
