Hermann Park

This morning my son William and I drove over to Hermann Park to paint and draw. Another great place to paint in Houston! We parked the car and hiked 10 minutes to a spot under some trees overlooking a large pond. I set up to paint and William started to draw. He drew everything and anything that came into his view, including ducks, ducklings, a squirrel, various types of birds, a helicopter flying overhead, and the little train that goes around the park.

We had a great time. Though after about an hour and a half of painting, William looked over my shoulder and asked me if I could make my strokes longer? He thought that might speed up the painting and he was ready to go! Another 15 minutes and just as I was putting on the last brushstrokes of paint (tiny short ones at that), raindrops started to fall. We packed up and headed to the car as quickly as we could, running the last 50 feet to avoid getting too soaked.
