Art Show Report

Well, the art sale at our church is over. Thirteen artists presented their wares Sunday morning for 3 hours. I enjoyed every minute of it, even the setting up part was fun because I got to visit with the other artists as they were setting up.

Two of my paintings sold before the event and I sold 7 more during the sale. I also got a commission which is always exciting. I make notecards out of many of my paintings so I had lots of notecards available. Lots. I sold between 25 and 30 packages of notecards, which I was very happy about.

The largest painting that sold was an 8″x10″, the smaller paintings definitely were better sellers than the larger ones. Next year I’ll have more small paintings and only a couple of the larger paintings. I think it’s probably difficult to walk out of church and spend $500 or $600 on a painting at an art sale you didn’t know they were having! There was a lot of interest in the larger paintings but no actual sales.

I’ve included a photo of what my living room looked like a couple of days before the sale. All those paintings and notecards made for a nice display for a few hours. But, um, now my living room looks a lot like it did before the show.

  1. Joan, you worked SO HARD to make that happen. I just couldn’t be any happier for you! Everything looks AMAZING. Your cards and all your art in the most awesome frames–and you look oh so tres chic and composed!! Way to GO!!!!

  2. Joan, sounds like the event was a great success. You sold so much!

btw, Home Sweet Home is a terrific little painting.

  3. Silvina, thanks for your comment. The show did turn out better than I had expected, though I still have a lot of paintings left. I put them in the storage room today.

And thank you for the compliments on my “Home Sweet Home” painting. I’m glad you like it. I like it too and it wasn’t in the art sale, it’s hanging on my wall. For now.

    Joan
