This is a painting of my son studying in our dining room, it’s 9″x12″ oil on linen canvas. My vantage point is from the entry hall where I set up my easel. He studies at the dining room almost every evening and I know he’ll love this painting in about 20 years!
I really enjoyed painting the chandelier and the checked curtains, below is a close-up.
This is a great composition, Joan! It sort of borders being symmetrical, but not quite… And the crystal drops on the chandelier came out great!! me likey
Great work!
The brushstrokes have a ~vibrato effect~!
“Getting Ready for a Portrait” was also a cool theme.
Yes, it may be a while before he can truly appreciate the study time.
You have created a wonderful record of it.
You have a beautiful home and that new studio is going to be amazing. Meanwhile..it is great that you painted your son doing his work. He will go far because he does his work! There is a good work ethic in this house (both of you)!
You’re amazing…
You’re right… he may not appreciate it today… but he will treasure it as he grows older.
Hi Joan – Your compositions clearly stand out… both the interiors and the ‘portrait prep’. Just charming. So glad to have found you! Merry Christmas
Beautiful Joan, so Bonnard!
