Pumpkin and berries

Here is a litte painting for the fall, it’s a 5″x7″ oil on canvas. I thought it was appropriate since my son and I just bought pumpkins to put out by the front door in preparation for Halloween. It’s too early to carve them, but they’re ready.

The group show I was going to participate in on October 3 and 4th was postponed until May due to Ike, but this week I got an invitation to participate in a reception at our church for artists on Sunday October 26th. Thank you to the ECW (Episcopal Church Women) and Denise Cartwright for promoting the arts at our church. There will be a few artists, I’m not sure how many yet, and I’ll have a table with some of my paintings displayed. I have notecards printed from some of my artwork so I will probably have some packages of my notecards for sale too. The reception will last 3 hours and it’ll be fun to see other artists’ works and to visit with people.

I’ve probably been doing more reading and studying about art this past week than actual painting. I dropped by the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston one afternoon, that is a great place for inspiration. My son and I went to the local library after school another afternoon and I came home with a big stack of heavy art books. I’m enjoying looking at the pictures, but I’m especially excited when I find something written about the artists’ thought process.
